I’m declaring today “International Friendship Day”, simply because I’m cool like that. I remember all the friends around the world I used to write to years ago, before the internet (yes, I’m THAT old), and how much fun I had learning about other cultures, languages and countries right from the people who lived there. Oh, and the stamps were always kinda nifty too!

These days, most correspondence is sent via electronic mail and our social networking “friends” just aren’t the same as they used to be. Facebook has about a million rules you have to follow and there really isn’t any way to meet truly new, unique and interesting people there because of their dumb invite system. You have to know somebody who suggests someone that perhaps you might know through Joe, the guy who works across town at the grocery store, who has a sister, Patty, that vaguely remembers you from her poetry class and adds you because Mary thought you sounded familiar…uh…yeah.

What if you just want to meet random people to make friends, like in the old days where you could respond to an ad for letter exchanges in the newspaper? Well, now there is JuJu, a truly “social” networking site! This is an “all-in-one” solution where you can meet new friends online AND through traditional mail, without being locked out of so many of the features, like on FB, just because you don’t directly know someone.

For example, you can browse photos, blogs, groups, forums, chat and even read and post classified ads there! If you are moving somewhere, you can post to find a roommate, or if you need a travel companion, language partner or simply want a good, old fashioned free penpal, then it’s all available to you on just one website! How easy is that???

Join JuJu and make a new friend today, ‘cuz every day is international friendship day!!!

As a follow up to my previous post, I thought I’d list a few more resources to get you all hot and bothered this spring, since it is the season of love, ya know! The flowers of lust are in bloom too, but watch out for the path of thorns ahead!

I suggest you check out the top UK dating sites for advice on what’s going on in the world of online dating. It’s a blog format that contains some great behind the scenes info on some of the best known sites, including many I’m sure you’ve heard of before.

Let’s talk about naughty dating, baby! Yes, it gets raunchy sometimes, but it can’t all be about romance with chocolates and roses, right? Sometimes you just get those urges to go further, and this is the place to be when it overcomes you, trust me!

After you’ve absorbed the nuts and bolts of the dating world, then head on over to the UK dating directory to decide for yourself where you wanna go. Each site has it’s own set of positives and negatives, so it’s ultimately up to you to decide based on your own set of criteria. Every site has useful features, but it’s up to you to fully ultilize them. Come on, don’t be shy!!

You don’t really know me. I don’t really know you. Yet I get requests to be added to virtual friendship add lists on a daily basis. This is what the internet has lead us to believe is important. If I have 7583 people on my friends list, then I MUST be somebody, right?

I wonder what this will make of our social skills later on in life. “MSN Speak” already has a death grip on modern culture, to the point where the next generation will adopt our idiocy as the de facto social language norm of this new century. It’s a cycle really, as we begin to communicate like monkeys to the point where, some day, we may end up throwing feces at each other just to get attention.

Ooooh! I gotta go! My MSN messenger friend just came online….

Like a cowboy that never killed any indians, received no key’s to the city, or made it’s way into the hearts of profit searching webmasters, Google Referrals is finally riding off into the sunset. Of course, since Google Referrals never worked for anything, their depart isn’t as dramatic as a cowboy riding off into the sunset. In fact, I’ve used Google Referrals and despite getting quite a few clicks, that never turned into a cent of profit. First they had a little red line of text at the top of the adsense control panel, and then they sent out an email to it’s users.

For those of you who don’t know what Google Referrals are, they’re somewhat similar to Clickbank, Click Junction, or Amazon. You’re supposed to get paid whenever signs up for a product that you refer them to, through google. Unfortunately for google, that wasn’t working out as they’d planned, and they decided to just shut it down. Atleast they’re giving us notice, so we have plenty of time to remove the adsense referrals from our sites.

Note: Referrals will be retired during the last week of August 2008.

Luckily I only have 1 unsuccessful page that contains a referral button. Battle of the Browsers never really saw the light of day anyways though.

This post is all in good fun, I don’t actually think old people are dunce because they don’t use IE, and I don’t think people that use IE in general are stupid. The post was written in a rather offensive writing style, but please be aware that I’m just joking around. So, with that in mind, everything thing I say can and will be held against me, but I don’t mean most of it.

There are currently two browsers that dominate the internet, one of which sucks, and one that everybody loves. Of course everyone already knows that these two browsers are Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. What you might not know is that Internet Explorer users are either afraid of change, senile, or they don’t use the computer much. When people don’t use their computer very much, it obviously wouldn’t matter if they used internet explorer or Mozilla Firefox, partially because they had no idea either one of them existed.

Many people just refer to their internet explorer, as Internet. If they found out of another way to connect to the internet then they would probably explode and spurt guts of stupidity all over their bedroom. Nipping the bud from the very beginning is the best thing someone could do. I would find it humorous, and a great justice if the default homepage for new microsoft computers was mozilla.com instead of msn.

Think about it though, if someone pointed a finger at you and asked you which program you wanted to use to surf the internet, before you knew anything about either program, which you would use? I’m guessing most of you would’ve answered firefox. Despite your answer being plenty biased already… I would’ve chosen it because Mozilla Firefox sounds way cooler than Internet Explorer. Then again, if it was my first time on the computer, and someone sat me down, and told me to choose between firefox or Internet Explorer then I doubt I would notice that Firefox was better.

You have to be tech savvy to really enjoy the wonders of Firefox, their marketing scheme, and the pretty colors in their logo. Maybe, if you were a natural to the internet, then you could sit down and decide that Firefox was better than IE7 without batting an eyelid.

Despite Internet Explorer User’s lack of intelligence, many of them can vouch for their precious IE7. For example (not a very good one), I tried switching my dads computer from IE7 to Firefox. I thought I was doing him the biggest favor by switching his browsers. He ended up yelling at me and forcing me to switch it back. I don’t know whether this is because he missed his bookmarks, or because genuinely liked IE7 better than Firefox. I know one thing for certain though; being senile definitely had something to do with it.

I feel distanced from all Internet Explorer users, probably because they have different interests than me. Seriously the only people that use it are the people that are to stupid to change it, don’t see any point in changing it, or don’t have the time to change it. I’ve had to change the browser to FF for both of my parents, so obviously old people are dunce when it comes to internet browsing software. To be honest though, as long as you don’t plan on spending a lot of time on the internet, and enjoying a feature rich experience isn’t in your best interest, than it really doesn’t matter which browser you use.

My feelings towards internet explorer users are left alone in the outside world though. My computer class had to use internet explorer because that’s what comes installed on the computer. Being built in to the computer seems to make the program more trustable… The truth is, I haven’t used IE7 on my computer since I used it to find firefox and download it. When I’ve turned on my Internet Explorer to check how a web page looks in that browser, I get some random popup and for some reason a bunch of toolbars are hovering over the content.

If you want a good internet browsing experience, then go with Firefox… If not for any of the reason above, then get it because of the cool addons. If everyone was as educated as you now are about the two leading internet browsers, the lead dev and his mom would be the only people using Internet Explorer 7.
